Netflix Management Style Analysis Essay

A measure that may be used when looking to hire someone for a specific position can be anything from their resume, appearance, experience, and education and this could say a lot about a candidate but a measure that a lot of management should take into account is management style and personality. These two things are huge when finding the right fit or person for the job, especially in management especially because this is what makes a successful manager. These things should be taken into consideration when it is established what your company culture is like so that interviewer can have more of an idea how the person would be when applied in their culture.
Management style can mean so much to the employees and the company because if the management

Netflix makes sure their employees know how they should perform and what happens if they do not meet their demands. I would think that this is a hostile way to perform business but they have proven to be successful in what they do by their numbers. Since they had a leak of their business culture among their employees they have actually increased their market by over twenty percent. Netflix makes it a point to show their employees that numbers mean a lot by giving them an evaluation that is based on their numbers and if they do not meet their expectations the employee is given a severance package and asked to leave the company. This question would show me if they are goal driven or motivated by praise from their management and their peers. Netflix has proven to be a company that relies on their employees to be self-motivated and driven to grow by their own results within the company. (Kinicki and Williams, 2012) This questions not only tell Netflix whether the applicant will be a good fit for their needs but be a good fit for the applicant as well. If the company is motivated by something like money this could put the interviewer on the fence whether the applicant would be a better fit for another position in the company over another because this could fit the company's needs in sales rather than in Information Technology. Another question I would ask the applicant is what they think about criticism in their work performance. Netflix gives an annual review on each of their employees and if an applicant states that they like criticism in a way that is passive to help them do better it would give them insight to that person in how sensitive they may be in an annual review or if their numbers are not doing as well as the company would

I think that would give the employer or organization a great place to start as how to evaluate the employee. From that point, they would know where to start as to where to place the employee in the job, training needed that fits their strengths and weaknesses. Once they have completed the survey, the organization or employer would need to schedule meetings, training and schools that would exercise and broaden their strengths. Use me for example, I didn’t really even know what my strengths were before taking the survey. I am sure there are a lot of people that do not self-evaluate and therefore they do not know their own strengths and weaknesses.…

Researchers have been following the trajectory of white racial attitudes since the end of the Jim Crow era. The majority of white attitudes have shifted away from overt racism and segregation towards views supporting egalitarianism. However, the general consensus among researchers is that the overall increase in attitudes supporting equality does not correlate to an increase in white support for racially targeted policies, mainly concerning affirmative action (Federico and Sidanius, 2001). Different theories have been suggested to explain the disconnect between whites’ approval of equal opportunity, but disapproval for the enforcement of equal opportunity. This difference is also labeled the “principle-implementation gap” (Bobo, 1997; Schuman,…

The increasing popularity of VOD is causing a significant escalation in demand. By analyzing the trends in supply and demand, we can observe the prosperity of Netflix and how it can surpass the opposing sources of VOD. The supply refers to the selection of videos on demand and these items are the main heart of this firm. The larger and more popular selection of videos they have, the higher the demand will be. Consumers want the most bang for their buck; Netflix has to keep up with these standards or their demand will decrease.…

Organizational culture plays a key role in the effectiveness of any company. Netflix has worked hard to establish a very strong organizational culture, or collective values that are the core makeup of the company (Kreitner & Kinicki, 2013). My organization has a strong but very different culture, but cannot compare in scale to that of Netflix. My organization is a public power company, which naturally leads us to a very different business model than Netflix, resulting in very different cultures. While our cultures are very different, Netflix’s focus on transparency and accountability can be adapted to my organization (Netflix).…
