Cable subscribers and new millennial viewers are now venturing over to streaming services due to the accessibility and flexibly provided. Being able to watch when you want, where you want, and how you want, give consumers the power of accessing content in a way they see fit. With consumer preference being in high demand, increasing innovations for devices such as Chromecast and Amazon Fire, lets subscribers access content on their home television screens; ultimately pulling subscribers away from digital television. Because online streaming is a new medium in the television industry, there are many articles and publications written and distributed for audiences. An increasingly popular form of an online streaming service is Netflix. Netflix is a library of movies, documentaries, and Television shows. As of January 2016 Netflix has garnered over 75 million subscribers globally since the company began streaming in 2007. Netflix began as a DVD-by-mail service in 1998 and has since reinvented how consumers watch television and access content online. Cord cutters are cable and television subscribers who cancelled their subscriptions and switched to online streaming. Reasons behind cord cutting bundles down to simply saving money. Television and cable subscribers pay close to a hundred dollars monthly for channels occasionally watched.
