Let’s talk about the benefits of Net Neutrality laws. First, Net Neutrality allows us to view whatever we want whenever we want for no extra price. Let’s illustrate this by continuing with your story.
After seeing this horrible sight of blocked Netflix, you decide to give your ISP a call, let’s say its Comcast. The Comcast customer support answers and you explain the problem your having while trying to access Netflix, and also how annoyed you are because you can’t watch the great show you were about to watch. This is what they say in response: “We’re sorry for this inconvenience you are having, but sadly Netflix has been blocked for Comcast users because of the inappropriate content found on the site, but if you would like we could allow Netflix to be unblocked for you with a small fee of $9.99 a month.”
Honestly, this would be infuriating, and I’m sure you would think so too. But that is the real power that has been given to ISPs. They can charge us more money so that we can access the websites that we know and love. This is not a good thing for Internet users at all. We want our freedom to use the Internet however we please.
