In the middle of spring in 59AD, the Emperor Nero decided to kill his mother. At this point in time Nero and Julia were not on very good terms. Nero invited his mother, Julia, to join him at a festival, hoping it looked like a peacemaking gesture so that Julia would not suspect anything. At the end of the festival Nero gave his mother a gift which was a beautiful boat made for her so that she could ferry up the coast.
The gift was supposed to be a death trap. Everything was planned to go wrong on the boat but luckily for Julia nothing happened to her.
