What would you do if you were the god of all of the sea and freshwater? Also married to a woman who is the goddess of the salt water. “Neptune was the Roman god of the sea and freshwater. He is a piece of Poseidon the greek version of this god and was married to the goddess of salt water, Salacia and the child of Ops and Saturn. Neptune was the god of the sea and was a very powerful man. “ (“Neptune Early Beginnings”,1) Neptune was an important god because he first had only control of salt water but he obtained the ability to control fresh water. Neptune grew his powers after his father had almost killed them, yet luckily being saved by their mother, which caused him and his brothers split ways onto new parts of the world leaving him to have to find his own way of living and forming his power. His brothers went to control the sky and underworlds leaving Neptune to take control of the sea. With Neptunes …show more content…
His first sons name is Triton he took after his father and alongside triton he had Pegasus and Atlas. The son that took after Neptune the most was Triton, Triton carried a trident like his father and had the ability to control fresh water. Pegasus and Atlas didn’t take after their father but their mother and only had the ability to control salt water for short periods of time. His mistress Salacia had the ability to control and maneuver all types of water. She is referred to as the queen of the sea. She couldn't marry neptune because she was to preserve her virginity. Neptune was very pleased with Salacia and he shortly fell in love with a water nymph. Even after a hunt to find her and persuade her to marry him. “Salacia was dancing with her sisters, and the moment Neptune saw her, he decided he wanted her as his wife.
