In order to solve the problem of the overuse of pesticides, one must first acknowledge that that this is a major problem not only plaguing america but most of the world.
Defining terms: I. neonicotinoid pesticides a. Started being used in early 1990’s to replace more harmful chemicals b. Systemic agricultural insecticide resembling nicotine c. Compared to organophosphate and carbamate insecticides, neonicotinoid are not as to birds and mammals while being more toxic to insects B. Over use of neonicotinoids I. Farmers see this as an “insurance policy” a. Can’t predict amount of insects so better overuse than underuse? i.
