Neonatal Nurse Research Paper

My area that I intend to major in is neonatal nursing because it’s been my dream to be a nurse where I get to help people who are in need, but to be a neonatal nurse is where my heart has fallen into. One huge reason why I am driven to become a neonatal nurse is because my experience with neonates is a tough one as I had lost my newborn sister on a tuesday of August 16 of 2016 (this date is ingrained in my head forever) to nothing. Doctors gave no explanation to why she died, one minute her heartbeat is higher than 100 beats per minute and the next minute it was dropping down to 95- 85 beats per minute. With a hope of getting my sister 2 months before her due date and finally getting a chance to welcome her after 13 years of trying, my mom was rushed down to labor and delivery while the staff all sprinted down to help. I never thought I would hold a dead newborn in my hands, especially my sister. Or witness my father barely weep out that the baby they waited for 13 years hadn’t survived. I continued talking to patients without mentioning what I went through, and listening to their stories of their journeys. The patients helped me get my mind of things for a short period of time until I got home where I had to comfort my mother and avoid crying in front of her.
