Nelson Mandel An Effective Leader

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was born in 18th July 1918 in Mvezo village in the republic of South Africa. His father named him Rolihlahla meaning “pulling the branches of a tree”. Nelson Mandela’s father was called Gadla Henry Mphakanyiswa, a chief by custom and blood appointed to the post by the king of Thembu tribe. Nelson Mandela’s father had four wives and Nelson Mandela’s mother being the third wife. After the death of his father, Nelson Mandela was enrolled into a school at an age of nine to study civil service by a high ranked chief. While in college, he was elected to the post of a student leader. Nelson Mandela started to advocate for the rights of black South Africans. Nelson Mandela then arrested by the South Africa white government and was jailed for 27 years. Nelson Mandela was then released by the South Africa white government after immense pressure piled on them by the international community. Nelson Mandela was a quick learner and he planned his future using his past experiences. His visionary style of leadership enabled him to rally his supporters and allies toward archiving a specific common goal. Nelson Mandela had a calm head as it is exhibited by his ability to be creative and innovative when faced by immense pressure while in prison. His ability to lead from behind made all his supporters and allies loyal to him and his agenda. Practicing self-discipline and self-control are the traits that prevented South Africa from plunging into civil war and chaos. Nelson Mandela’s ability to think with a sober mind helped him from making rushed decisions based on feelings distinguished him from other leaders in the world.
