One of his greatest strengths was the ability to manipulate people and situations, and he used this ability to make his advantage. One example of this is when he was put on trial for being a leader of the African National Congress. The trial, he knew, would not be fair, and he would inevitably be put in jail. One thing he did well was making sure the future would be prepared to face issues. In 2007 Mandela started The Elders, an organization of leaders from around the world working for human rights. Making this group ensures that there will always be someone continuing the work Mandela started, and people would always have a group fighting for their rights. Mandela also realized that education was important to ensure South Africa could prosper. He started the Nelson Mandela Foundation which raises money to build schools, and health clinics in the rural parts of South Africa, and they still work to promote Mandela's vision of a greater world.
