Nelson Mandela had to go through a life of false accusations and racism, however through all that he was always a man of peace and forgiveness. Mandela was born on July 18, 1918 in Umtata near the Transkei region of South Africa. Mandela told growing up was told that he was going to be the next great ruler of his tribe. He was also a committed student to an all black college. Until, one day he was expelled for joining a student boycott. What makes Nelson Mandela a hero is the qualities he has, the obstacles he's faced and the accomplishments he has made.
