In June 11, 1964, Nelson Mandela was convicted for sabotage and sentenced to life imprisonment.
While serving his sentence he used his time to do a lot of self-reflection to make changes for himself. He stated changing oneself was his most difficult task in life.
Nelson Mandela was a much respected man even while he was in prison. He starting making things right the very first day. So in order to gain respect with the guards he looked towards these words "You must fight the battle for dignity even in prison!" He fought for respect and as the result everyone addressed him as Mr. Mandela.
As his time went on he believed that with all emotions it made hatred and with that hatred it kept them from wanting to talk to the oppressor. Which kept them far away from the road to peace. And so with time and effort he thought and motivated himself and "He made the brain dominate the blood."
As one of his famous quotes, this way of thinking gave him the courage to talk to the oppressor, with result his opportunity to walk out a free man has reached its peak. There was peace offered and he was released on February 11,
