A. The Quote number 3 is about a man having a power, power is describe as a hammer. So when a man has the power (hammer) he thinks that he can conquer all around him. The power can blinds person’s perception. But as Maslow uses hammer as reference for power in the quote and realizing that hammer has a two sides; one that push down nails and other is to removing nails from being stacked down, it might means that having a power cannot just us to turn down people but also it can use to help.

“You may have to fight a battle more than once to win the war”-Margaret thatcher What this symbolizes to me is the bell curve. You start at the bottom and slowly go up it as you go up it, is a habit or easier, harder and harder until you reach the top and then it gets easier. This applies to war because,as you fight the battles the war get’s harder then you start to win and or loose.now how something like this applies to me.but how I think of it is you set a goal and that goal might be hard might be easy, but as you continue your goal, it gets harder and harder until it becomes different. Now there could be many meanings for that quote, that is my interpretation but lets hear some others. ”helping…

One of my most favored metaphors and quotes I have ever come across would be this one. Showing how wits always win over brawn, thinking is dangerous to those around you, but it can also be dangerous for yourself. Celaena, the main protagonist of Throne of Glass realizes that thought is a dangerous weapon to possess, towards those against you, but can be dangerous for yourself if someone of greater authority feels as though this is a threat. One of the first places we are introduced to in the castle is the castle’s library, a large collection of dusty books that hadn’t been touched for ages sitting on oaken bookshelves. To me I feel that this quote can apply to my life very dramatically as it shows a main component of the make up of my personality. When I am interested in pursuing something that involved myself, I would be the only one making that decision and would not pay attention to another persons opinion on it. Like Gertrude B. Elion, I am not concerned on what the people around me are doing and have to say about my life because I feel everyone should have a mind of their own and should not feel judged in pursuing an action that interests them. To me, I feel that the quote applies to my life in terms of a degree in science because I never allow fear in stopping me from pursuing my dream. If my dream is to pursue a role in the science field and somebody…

Throughout our short lives, we are tested with various challenges. Some of us prevail over them and move on, while others must endure them day after day. It is unfortunate that not all of us are blessed with perfect lives filled with grandeur, but if everyone lived a life without obstacles, we would forget what it meant to be human. We would forget how to use our skills to their fullest potential. Because it’s not the challenges in life that make us who we are, rather what we do to overcome them.…

Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau, we could learn quite a bit from these two great artists in literature. They have created stories with such great and different meaning to their readers, and many quotes can be found in each one. Here are three quotes found in their stories, each with their own purpose. A quote by Emerson is “what I must do is all that concerns me, not what the people think”, one quote by Thoreau is “heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads”, and another quote by Thoreau is “if you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them”.…

I firmly believe that rhetorical criticism is a systematic way to examine symbolic actions, artifacts and the reasons behind persuasion. In this study, I will explain Burke’s “literature as equipment for life,” and McGee’s “ideograph” methods and analyze given phenomenon in section three of this paper. Keneth Burke considered literature as equipment for living that empowers human being to understand the situation, and develops attitudes for approaching it. This method manifested that proverbs are not merely a rhetoric that embellishes human speaking, but they are powerful words that express human experiences and perspectives inherited from generations. He further explains that proverbs are the unique names for typical, recurrent situations,…

Do you ever get the feeling that God has a sense of humour? Most of the time, I find it in life’s irony. The little things popping you are hopelessly trying to avoid, and seemingly insignificant people doing extraordinary, earth-shattering things. Initially I’ll be frustrated and angry with God (imagine inner tantrums and kicking and screaming), but after some time, especially when it is reoccurring, I finally get the point; the point that I have absolutely no control over this life, and that God is intimately part of every single detail.…
