1.) The people on board the Nellie as it made its way out of the Thames River was a Director of Companies, acting as the “captain and host”, A lawyer, an accountant, Marlow, and the unnamed narrator.

Doctor’s don’t normally drink, even if it was just a basic inspection. The doctor also measured Marlow’s head, which even Marlow was shocked by.
6.) The captain of the ship Marlow rode on talked of a Swede he had on the ship before who had hung himself, for no known reason to the captain.
7.) The chief accountant was one of the few clean shaven and fancily clad people Marlow’s seen this far. He looked out of place, like he was in a King’s court.
8.) The manager was successful because he emanated uneasiness, which is an “effective faculty”. He was awarded the title manager due to his unscrupulous health, never falling sick in 3 years.
9.) Pilgrim’s according to dictionary.com is “a person who journey’s… to some sacred place… religious reasons.” Marlow compares these people to pilgrims because in his eyes they seem to worship ivory, with a primal moral of “rapacity”, which is also known as extreme greed.
10.) Marlow went to the brickmaker in order to get rivets to stop the hole, but Marlow ended up getting an earful of random information that he hardly cared about.

6.) The helmsman of the boat died during the attack after swinging an empty rifle around, throwing it overboard, and was stabbed below the ribs with a spear.
7.) Marlow scares the natives away by repeatedly yanking the steam whistle until they had fled. Of course he only thought of this after someone had died, but hey at least he did something useful.
