When students are nominated they are chosen by their excellence in scholarship, leadership, character, and service with their community and knowing i meet the requirements I would gladly like to become a member of the national honors society. The National Honors Society will give me the chance to be acknowledged other than just my honor roll excellence but my excellence overall. The search for the origins of humankind and the earliest human ancestor has intrigued anthropologists for generations. New evidence, while often scarce, is a vital aspect to the understanding and development of the field of paleoanthropology. Current research aids in the modification of the human ancestral tree and the analysis of various sites. One of the newest sites dealing with human evolution is the Rising Star cave system in South Africa, where a new species of human ancestors, Homo naledi, was discovered. Because of its modernity, quick excavation, and controversial conclusions, the site of the Rising Star cave system is still being actively researched.…
A few years ago Nirvan Mullick walked into an auto shop in East L.A. and found a lot more than a steering wheel for his Toyota. He found a nine year old named Caine who’s love for the idea of an arcade and all the components involved drove him to build an arcade made of cardboard boxes and other things he found in his father’s shop. A short film by Mullick about Caine’s experience started a nationwide phenomenon inspiring the world to be more creative in the next generation’s learning experience. I think that Caine’s experience spoke to me and is relevant to life and education today for many reasons.…
Tyr is considered a lesser known deity in comparison to the other Norse gods, however, no less in significance in European culture. The Younger Edda states that warriors call on his name “to [sway] victory in war” (Snorre). There are other examples in the real world of reverence and recognition of the god Tyr. Towns in what we call Scandanavia were thought to be inspired by their devotion to this deity based on their names, such as Tyslundr or “Tyr’s Grove” and Tysnesoen or the “island of Tyr’s headland” (Turville-Petre). There are also correlations between the Germanic god Mars and Norse god Tyr.…

Beginning with a treaty between Elba and Abarsal the gods were often invoked in a way to ensure the treaty was honored. Lacking other ways to ensure the other side kept their side of the bargain, both sides would call on their gods to punish their enemies should they break the oaths outlined within the treaty. As it was the common belief that the gods of every nation were a very real thing, this was something taken very seriously by the signatories of these agreements, as explained by Podany, “Only the gods could play this role, and of course the gods of both parties needed to be called on. The gods were absolutely real to the ancients, and they believed in everyone’s gods, not just their own. If someone broke an oath he could expect the gods would punish him.”…

Saeada is located on a planet called Sarnus; a planet that’s a combination of Earth and Venus. It is extremely hot like Venus with the massive amounts of water and greenery like Earth.…
