While doing this assignment I found out that there was a book on Neil Young’s childhood called “Young Neil” by Sharry Wilson. I was able to read parts of the book and it is amazing how dedicated and hungry Neil Young was about music. In his musical career, “Young cherished great success as part of a band or group but his biggest success came as a solo artist” (Wilson, 2014). In 1972, Young wrote and released two songs that made his solo career even more famous. Those two songs are “Heart of Gold” and “Old Man”, they are my personal favorite’s songs and are known to be his biggest hits. If you ask someone that knows about music to describe Neil Young, many people will describe him as inspirational and thoughtful. That is exactly how most of his songs were. “Neil Young buries the true meaning deep within a simple story line” (Wilson, 2014). The reason why I believe he was so successful is because everyone can relate to most of his songs. For example, in “Old man”, Neil Young sings about the owner of a ranch he bought.
