Neighborhood Drug Research Paper

As a child growing up I loved my neighborhood, it was a place where everybody knew everybody. I lived only a few buildings away from Yankee Stadium. The streets seemed to be crime free and everyone got along. I remember playing double Dutch with my friends, my older cousins picking me up from the school bus and playing in Ms Rays bushes. I never witness or heard of any crimes growing up in my neighborhood I guess it’s because my mother kept me away from it all, but that all changed with time. As I got older I started hanging out more and paying attention to my surroundings, by the time I was in middle school I could name a gang in my neighborhood, a drug that was being sold and the name of the drug dealer that sold it.

So how have crime and drugs changed in my neighborhood over the last several years? In my neighborhood drugs have definitely made an impression on the youth, most teens are drawn into becoming drugs dealers. The drug activity has found a place in my area and as a result, has become a common source of income. There are many different types of drugs being used and sold in my neighborhood, some of which are marijuana, crack cocaine and heroin. Drugs seem to play a major part in the poor areas.
