Neglect. Defined as “fail to properly care for… the state or fact of being uncared for.” There are many forms of neglect, ranging from emotional, verbal and/or physical. When a child is neglected, he/she can be removed from the home or even removed from the parent(s)/guardian(s) custody.
In jeannette’s situation i believe she is being neglected to some degree. For example, her first memory was at the age of three, trying to make herself hot dogs and caught on fire. In my opinion this should be considered neglect be cause as a three year old, Jeannette shouldn't have to cook for herself, let alone use a stove. Her parents had failed to care for her in this situation and the result was devastating. On the other hand, at times, was quite present.
