Track has started recently and the amount of complaining is astronomical. I’m out here running around, chirping because I’m so excited, and all I hear is people bitchin’ about the sport. Don’t join a sport if you aren’t going to enjoy it. If you don’t want to do it, don’t do it. If you do, if you do decide to do it, realize how lucky you truly are to be doing this. Some people don’t have the ability to do sports. Hotchkiss is one of few schools where anyone can do a sport, no matter your skill level. There are no tryouts. You can’t get cut. However, people take that for granted and when I see people complain, I wish that they’d understand. If you approach something you don’t like with a positive attitude, it becomes ten times better. At Hotchkiss, the other sport notorious for complaining is wrestling. “You guys are so lucky you can eat! Our sport is the hardest sport you can do and we have to suffer constantly!” Like I said before, don’t complain about the sport if you chose to do it. I don’t really care that your sport is the “toughest” in the world. I don’t care that you missed snack time and now you’re hungry. No one wants to hear that negative attitude. I’d love to hear about you pinning one of the top kids in the state and I’d love to hear about how you just perfected that crossface. Just don’t come to me with an attitude that’s as bad as you squeaking your opponent on the mat for
