First, some of the negatives of living in a tundra is the coldness of living there. The highest temperatures in the winter is only -40 degrees fahrenheit. The summers are like our winters in Michigan. The highest the summers get in the tundra are 37 degrees fahrenheit and 57 degrees fahrenheit. The winds are terrible in the tundra. The winds get up 30 to 60 MPH, making someone with bare skin freeze in 30 seconds. The winters are the worst. 10 inches to 3 feet of ground gets frozen. In the summer in the tundra, the snow and ice starts to melt and the land starts to get soggy and marshy with mud. There is no true soil in the tundra also because it gets all soggy and muddy.
