Negatively Affected By Social Media

One day i was at the movies with a friend and we were sitting next to this girl who was with her mom, she was on her phone for the beginning of the movie. Since her brightness of her phone was on, it was a big distraction towards the people sitting on each side of her and her mom. Her mom kept looking at her every time her daughter would pick up her phone so she told her to put it in her purse until the movie was over. As they got into the middle of the movie, her daughter kept asking questions about what happened in the beginning because of the distraction of her phone. Five minutes later when her mom went to get popcorn, she got her phone out of her purse and got back on it and her mom came back 10 minutes later to ask her what happened in the movie while she was gone but her daughter was to distracted by her phone, so she was unable to tell her. This is telling us that using our electronic devices can be a big distraction to people because it can get people off track. Also, using our phone during movies, homework, cleaning, etc can waste time which keeps us from paying attention to doing what we were doing because of …show more content…
For example, social media gets people addicted to it because people people choose to communicate and post online but instead people should start doing more educated things other than spending most of their time on their electronic devices. In addition, because of it causes an addiction it also causes confusion at the same time from what people see on social media. “That day at the pool, when i was forced to part with my device, reminded me of the charm of a less life connected-one that doesn’t need to be photographed or recorded, or compared with anyone else’s” (Wortham 4).
