Technology has been taking over the lives of adults and children all over the world in a very adverse way. Video games today can be used for fun and entertainment, but can also have negative effects on the lives of people all around. To play it here or there a few times a week is okay, but when it starts to become an obsession and an everyday thing is when it becomes unhealthy. It’s very easy for kids and adults to get hooked to the game plots and fantasy worlds. It soon starts to become an addiction playing the latest and oldest games known using the games as a get away from the world.
While video games might be fun and entertaining, it could have an effect on your social life and skills in the real world. It’s easy to hide behind a screen not wanting to deal with the realities of the world. All they want to do is play, and with the normal functions of being human you have to eat, sleep, and drink to get by on a day to day basis. They spend their time just eating and playing video games. “A 2010 study from the Eastern Ontario Research Institute found video games to blame, chiefly because children, boys especially, tend to eat more when they 're playing them.”(Kelly) Everyone loves food, and enjoying some delicious, unhealthy food while sitting back enjoying a mesmerizing game can be very relaxing and fun. “Similar to TV viewing, the passive aspect of video game play takes away from true physical activity and may lead to weight gain.”(Loop) Instead of going outside running around playing, kids now a days spend their time playing from the comfort of their couch. Without any physical activity the metabolism slows down, and with them laid back indulging themselves in food it allows for plenty of weight
