Ray Bradbury writes, “The lions on three sides of them, in the yellow veldt grass, padding through the dry straw, rumbling and roaring in their throats” (8). George, Lydia, Peter, and Wendy Hadley’s lives are not like an ordinary human’s life. They all live as a family in a house with highly advanced technology. This house feeds, clothes, sings, and plays with them, it even rocks them to sleep at night. The theme of “The Veldt” by Ray Bradbury is if technology is used the wrong way, it could cause negative outcomes. An example of how the technology can lead to negative outcomes is represented in the scene where Peter and Wendy’s parents find out the nursery is not working the way it was supposed to originally work.
