At some point people have made a choice in which impacted them in a negative or positive way. That choice may have been life changing, for example myself the best choice I have ever made was leaving New York. The reason I left New York was I did not want to be involved in a negative lifestyle such as stealing. The solution to this was simple I decided to join the Marines. I lived in New York for 18 Years. The drug dealers were cool in my eyes because they had all the girls, nice cars, and money. I would not dare associate with them because my mother would not allow it. My parents were and still are hard working citizens always working two jobs to pay the bills. They once told me, “work hard for I want, and never look for the easy way out. I will never forget these words they told me. The first time I ever stole something I was afraid. I did not know what would happen if I were to get caught. It was a sunny day in New York, and my best …show more content…
Sidekicks were more popular than IPhones, so we had to get our hands on them. Luis and I did not have a job, nor did we have enough money saved up to buy one. While in high school we were one of the few kids that did not own a sidekick. Luis and I were talking one day and he told me hey why don’t we steal the phone. I wasn’t too sure about the idea, but he convinced me we would not get caught. Walking home one day we noticed a group of kids they all had sidekicks. We noticed they went to the school next to ours. A light bulb turned on, we looked at each other and smiled. We were thinking the same thing stealing the phones from the kids in the other school. The students attending the school were either A plus students or had wealthy

My parents have said to work hard and do my best in school. I never understood why until I got older. The reason they told me to do my best in school was because they wanted me to think about school and my future. Both of my parents didn't get the chance to go to college. They both came to the United States looking for what most people come to the United States for ‘The American Dream’, they wanted a place where they could raise their children and find a stable job.…

    A. Autobiographical Statement My mother was the first and only person in her family to graduate from college, which has always been an inspiration to me. She was an abused wife on food stamps, raising two children on her own while my father was incarcerated. I will always remember when she told me that life was like a lotus flower; we may start by growing in the mud but each day we can choose to bloom above the water into a beautiful flower. It was then that I understood my childhood was not my choice, but how I choose to live the rest of my life was. My mother never wavered in her faith that if I wanted to do something in my life the only thing that could hold me back was myself.…

Today, I’m an air traffic controller for the United States Marine Corps. Retracing my steps, I can pin point two events that changed my course drastically.…
