Four Branch Model of Emotional Intelligence
The Four branch model of Emotional Intelligence describes four areas of capacities or skills that collectively describe many areas of emotional intelligence (Mayer and Salovey, 1997).

The four branches as can be seen from the above diagram are:
• Accurately Perceiving Emotions in oneself and others
• Using Emotions to Facilitate Thought
• Understanding Emotional Meanings
• Managing Emotions
Perceive Emotions:
It is the ability to express your own feelings at the same identify feelings of other people.

and to have proper knowledge of the same.
• Observe-It is very important to observe carefully .There will be people with different behaviours, skill sets playing different roles in any form of setup one encounters (family, workplace, society).Observe them without any pre-judgments.
• Shift/Ignore/Avoid-Once one has realized that one is being emotionally exploited, one should follow any one of the approaches mentioned above depending on the situation.
• Take Action-If the situation is a little severe and even after shifting, ignoring and avoiding, there is no effect, take action immediately. One should not wait and continue to be emotionally exploited.
The Joker The character of Joker is a classic example of the display of the dark side of emotional intelligence. Joker is the definition of pure evil. Some people believe that he is a psychopath, but that is not true. The Joker feels emotion, and the definition of psychopathy is that a person feels no emotion whatsoever . His emotion may be sick humor, or anger, or occasional sadness when one of his plans don’t work out, but he does feel genuine

Emotions are the strong force that connects humanity. We all weep, cheer, and worry about roughly the same things wether it be the loss of a loved one, the accomplishments of another, or the financial problems that come with being an adult. Emotions are so powerful that life changing decisions are made based off of them every day. Emotions are so crucial to our everyday lives that even mentally ill people that cannot feel emotion pretend to just to fit in. Emotions are so dangerous because the opinion of many can be swayed with the voice and story of one.…

Emotional intelligence is the ability to manage emotions in such a way that promotes positive outcomes in one’s life. Emotional intelligence also refers to a specific set of cognitive abilities associated with emotions. Intelligence is defined by Wechsler as “the aggregate or global capacity to of the individual to act purposefully, to think rationally, and to deal effectively with his or her environment.” (pg. 2). Based off of Wechsler’s definition of intelligence, I do consider emotional intelligence (EI) to be a true form of intelligence, because accurately managing one’s emotions is vital towards acting purposefully, thinking rationally, and dealing with his/her environment.…

The Formula for Credibility is something that I find very interesting. Our text states that it a great leader cannot perform his duties without the trust of his inferiors. The belief that a reputation cannot be built upon lies and deceit; a credible reputation is the best formula for success. There are three key components that are fundamental in the Formula for Credibility: competence, caring and character. While some may believe that competency is the only key component, I disagree.…

People of natural evil unfortunately do exist, and The Joker remains a stark reminder that if everyone is to be judged only by their personal morality, then a society must be willing to accept even the most twisted and deranged of moral codes. Such a stipulation remains among one of the most compelling criticisms of applying the principles “Self Reliance” to an actual…

Emotions, Inside Out No matter where you are from, whether it be from New York city or a small tribe in the amazon forest, we all experience the same 6 universal emotions. The emotions we experience are happiness, sadness, anger, surprise, fear and disgust. These emotions are beneficial because they allow us to have feelings and have the ability to categorize events with tags. For example, how we always remember the good events in life when we feel happy and we remember bad events when we feel sad (Gagnon). Emotions can also have a really big effect on how we perceive our life events.…

Leaders are appointed in countries and states to govern and manage the well being of the citizens. The ruling party, who primarily authorizes laws and bills, retains power. The dynamics of the political sphere is largely dependent on the power structure and form of government in the state. Authoritarianism occurs when citizens conform to extreme obedience and submission to their leaders (Altemeyer, 2006), coined as Right Wing Authoritarian (RWA) followers. North Korea, governed by the Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, is a famous example.…

Emotional Intelligence is defined as “the ability to identify, use, understand and manage your emotions in positive and constructive way.” (Lewis, 2012). And is broken down into four key components. These components are self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management, all playing separate but equal roles in what makes someone emotionally intelligent. For example, self-awareness is someone being aware of their own emotions in a given situation, while self-management in the control of emotions while being socially aware.…

The Joker and Antisocial Personality Disorder After doing a comprehensive observation of the famous but yet infamous character “The Joker” and researching his thoughts, behaviors, and actions, I have deduced that he suffers from antisocial personality disorder, one of the dramatic-emotional personality disorders. Antisocial personality disorder is a common diagnosis, as it affects about 200,000 people in the US per year. (Mayo Clinic, 2016). Many of the people diagnosed are men since men are five times more likely than women to meet the criteria for antisocial personality disorder (Kring & Johnson, 2014). Those with this disorder are antisocial, hostile, deceitful, manipulative, irresponsible, risk takers, impulsive, aggressive, irritable,…

Intriguing heroes are plenty, villains, not so many. However, the ‘Batman’ universe gave the world a menacing yet fascinating super villain with a chalk white face, green hair, and a fear inducing Glasgow smile. Unlike the many other fictional villains who petrified the world with super powers and super weapons, this man was able to instil gut wrenching fear by virtue of his “strange” personality. It is for this very reason that the “Joker” is such a captivating and interesting character to study. One way to understand the ‘what’ and ‘why’ of the Joker’s personality is through the Psychoanalytic approach.…

The Joker has a clear insight into Batman, he knows what makes him tick, he knows his weaknesses, because the Batman and Joker are one. They are each other's opposites but each other's halves as well. What is interesting to note is that at the end of the movie when Batman, chooses to let the Joker live, the Joker is upside down, where the Batman is standing up correcting, the final depiction of how they are opposites, but also part of each other. Throughout the movie, the Joker stresses how the Batman completes him, and every time the Batman ignores the Joker's comments. The Joker is…
