Some member states would join the treaties, become part of the convention; signs the International Human Rights Laws, however, would follow the rules only when it is convenient to them, (Hafner-Burton, E., & Tsutsui, K., 2005). For instance, the US government agents would secretly move freely into other counties to capture terrorist or a leader who infringes on an individual or groups. The arrested person is then taken to a secluded island and would be tortured or even killed, knowing very well that the individual has rights, (Torture and Prison Abuse, n. d.). Also, there are cases where the CIA has tortured a civilian but later realized that it was a mistaken identity. However, the agents would not apologize or offer some form of compensation but instead, would threaten the individual if he spoke. For example, in human trafficking, mothers marrying their children at a very young age to a relative or close friends to put food on the table. However, their husbands sold them to powerful men for prostitution overseas. Beside, Nigerian women seek attractive employment oversee to help bring money home to their families. Nevertheless, these jobs turn out to be prostitution or slavery. The women can pay their way back, but the debt is so high that and income received is not enough to pay and consequently, the women are in debts to their owner and cannot leave, (Kocham, N. (n. d.).
