In the world today, celebrities and models are often looked up too by people of this generation. The way they act, look, and how the media portrays them influences so many people. It’s making people believe the only way you are going to be pretty is if you are thin. This causes many serious problems and disorders. Many people get this image in their head of what they are “suppose” to look like which causes them to live and eat differently. Someone who is anorexic is very small and has very brittle bones. They are very weak and have little to no muscle. This is from not getting all the nutrients that their body needs. Also, this may cause them to be very tired all the time and faint regularly. From not eating and working out a lot it can really hurt their body. Their bones aren’t the only thing that becomes brittle on their body. Someone who is anorexic often has very dry and thin hair. This causes it to fall out most of the time. During this time, a person’s body is not working correctly and how it should. So another symptom of being anorexic is losing your menstrual cycle if you are a female. Some emotional symptoms they might experience are they may be irritable, depressed, and very antisocial. This can be very emotional and devastating for them. The fact that society can influence how someone feels about themselves is absolutely crazy. People are made to feel that if they don’t fit the mold of what others consider the perfect body that they are not good enough. Everywhere you look whether it’s in magazines or online you see these girls with toned bodies. Hardly ever do you see the average body or someone who is plus size. I couldn’t even imagine doing that to my body. It’s sad that someone could starve themselves and hurt their bodies just because they don’t like the way that they look.
