History
Technology will always improve and it is controversial if it should be in student’s education. The first major date in the use of technology in education was in the 1920s when the radio was invented and used. The overhead projector arrived in 1930, then the headphones in 1950, and the hand-held calculator in 1972. According to the U.S. Department of Education, “high school enrollment was only 10% in 1900, but by 1992 had expanded to 95%,” (“The Evolution Of” 1). With more technology that was available, students were looking for new ways to learn, study, and communicate. The topic now is about whether more technology should be implemented into the education system and if it would enhance or lessen student learning. This is an important issue because there is more modern technology that we are living in and it is controversial whether the education system should implement it. The viewpoints of the supporters and opponents of technology in education will be expressed in many complex factors.

Examples of how technology does not benefit students include: “the first involves students working on graphics, clip art, powerpoints, or adding sound and visual effects to video shorts. The second is students Googling their way to Wikipedia for material to cut-and-paste into powerpoints or word files,”(Hess 1). The problem with this is that students use Wikipedia instead of searching by hand in an encyclopedia or textbook to find the same information, which makes it easier for students to find it without using their own knowledge. This way of finding information does not challenge the students and will affect them throughout their lives. This can also lead to plagiarism: the process of taking someone else’s work and using it as their own. Students can get in trouble if they plagiarize and
