About 4,500 children may develop serious adverse effects involving life-threatening conditions, hospitalization, permanent disability, or death each year from vaccines ("Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System," n.d.). This a very high number of serious adverse effects per year. It is hard to understand that even with this number so high, discussion of the possible requirement of all children to have vaccines are in debate. Vaccines should not be required for children because the government should not have the power to force certain medical choices, the FDA, CDC, and pharmaceutical companies should not be trusted with the manufacturing and regulation of vaccines, and dangerous ingredients are contained in vaccines.…

The primary topics that have been discussed in this paper include vaccine safety, side effects and toxicity, and the need for vaccinations for diseases that appear to be eradicated. The concerns that have been raised about vaccine safety and effectiveness have all been addressed and the overwhelming evidence has been provided (Achievements in Public Heath, 1999). However, despite this evidence, theories against vaccinations by social groups often misrepresent the scientific data and are not backed by scientific logic. These concerns have led many parents to decline the recommended vaccination of their children which had led to a resurgence of diseases such as measles and pertussis in the United States (Maglione et al, 2015).…

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention in response to growing concerns of the increasing number of reported deaths related to influenza, a vaccine-preventable disease, issued a mandate that all healthcare workers get vaccinated. The rationale behind this directive stems from their belief that vaccination of high-risk groups is a proven most effective influenza control measure. According to Steckel (2007), Studies on the efficacy of the vaccine have shown 70% to 90% prevention of infection in adults younger than 65 years when there is a match between the vaccine and the strain of influenza prevalent during that season. The serum is also most effective in the prevention of an epidemic when a suitably large percentage of groups are vaccinated.…

One of the most common arguments today is whether or not vaccinations are truly important and worth it. There have been numerous studies conducted on the overall effectiveness and safety of vaccines. Despite having eradicated diseases such as smallpox, and being on the verge of eradicating polio, many parents are still opting to not vaccinate their children out of fear the vaccines will do more harm than good (Jhaveri, 2017). However, studies have shown these fears are mostly unfounded with most negative reactions being caused by individuals simply not being able to handle the pathogen. In addition, human error has also contributed to these fears, such as the 1929 tragedy where a Mycobacterium tuberculosis vaccine accidentally was switched with Bacillus Calmette-Guerin vaccine, causing 72 infant deaths (Cona, 2011).…
