Everyone needs their alone time but a trend in this era is isolation due to the technologies that are arising. As little kids we would always be running around outside, going house to house knocking on our neighbors doors asking if they wanted to go play tag or street hockey. But, today there had been a common trend of staying inside because all the little kids now want to play video games. All the games systems now can connect you to your buddy down the road and you can chat with them without leaving the couch. Even though society is more connected with technology we are getting more isolated from each other. There are simple ways of talking to people like apps that you can go and chat with people you know or even people you have never met. Etiquette is something that we all think we have but when looking deeper our etiquette is being erased by technology. When I was a little kid my dad’s parents took all the grand kids to a time-share where we could spend time with them without our parents there. One thing that they did every year with all of us was manners camp and they taught us table etiquette and the proper way to act around people and in different situations. Now, when we sit at the dinner table, we always have our phones out or have the TV to distract us and that has pulled us away from our etiquette at the table. Last year when my hockey team went out for team dinners, the assistant coach of the team would always bring a bag into the restaurant for our phones and everyone would have to put them in the bag so we had to talk to each other and not just play around on our phones while we were eating. I did not realize this until a while after why he did this because when he was a kid they had to talk to each other at the table, they did not have any portable distractions. Even when we are at the movie theaters, there are lots of the commercials about how cell phones in the movie theater is distracting and should be turned off for respect to others in the theater. Most of the time we do not abide by this because we end up hiding the screen or slouching down in the seat or turning the brightness down

Though it is agreeable that someone who may not be as social in the real world can be social on the internet, many could still insist that we do not live in the virtual world we lie in the real world and you have to be able to communicate with people all the time. The internet can be used as an extremely useful tool when it comes to communicating with loved ones from different parts of the world, which evidently does not always have negative impact our social interactions. When not physically near each other the internet acts as the strongest connection for loved ones. Jenna Wortham contributes in her article “I Had a Nice Time With You Tonight. On the App.…
