Gangs and mobsters which is a popular term for organized crime, ran houses of prostitutions and sold drugs. One of the most famous gangster was Al Capone who lived in Chicago, Illinois. He worked with his friend Johnny Torrio, as being bootleggers. However, Capone had a drinking problem and ended up getting arrested after hitting a parked taxi while drunk driving. Torrio pulled some strings with his connections with the government and got him out (History.com Staff). The Ku Klux Klan also known as the KKK, was one of the biggest problems in the 1920s. They promoted fundamentalism and devout patriotism and encouraged white supremacy. Their messages struck many people and membership to the group increased in the 1920s. There were around three million to eight million national memberships to the organization. The Klan moved to many states and dominated local and state politics. The strategy of the Klan was called a decade, where every member was responsible for recruiting ten people to vote for the Klan candidate in the election ("The Ku Klux Klan in the
