My generation is known for its technological advances, as we grew up with computers at home and TV’s with over five hundred different channels. Students today literally have everything at their fingertips, and for them it would be absolutely crazy to live without their cell phones and constant access to the internet. Technology has certainly made an impact on society by changing the way we learn and interact with one another, but does it really make life better?

Communication, entertainment and the ability to make life manageable from technology can turn out to be an interference in the classroom. Various kinds of entertainment from mobile devices, including games, texting or surfing the internet distract students from the curriculum. They have become so used to using their cellular devices in the classroom that if they hear their phone go off, nothing is stopping them from answering that text message. These devices can also be a major distraction at home. It is difficult for students to concentrate on one task at a time when they have a cell phone in one hand, the TV going and music playing, all while they are procrastinating on their English paper. Students that multitask are convinced that they are great at it, but in reality, their grades would be exceptionally better if they were to focus on one thing at a time. That means eliminating the distractions at school and at home would be a beneficial adjustment for students to
