“Our children’s digital lives are turning them into much different creatures from us and not necessarily for the better” (Hatch, 2011). Children are geniuses when it comes to using different types of technology because they are constantly on it. The good thing about using technology is children are learning more and improving their cognitive skills. The negative effect technology has on younger children is the harm that can affect their developmental skills in the future.Without limitations it will create harm to their developmental skills such as inhibiting social interaction with others, behavior problems, and leading to health issues. The positive effect of technology is that there are educational software for computers like games that encourage positive, interactive behaviors by rewarding children who cooperate or share, but most games or popular entertainment software often involves games with competition and aggression (Subrahmanyam et al., 2001). When childrens are glued to their computers for more than 7 hrs a day, they are developing behavior problems because of the excessive exposure to games, entertainment, and media that are changing the way they think, act, and feel. Violent games and entertainments are contributing to children’s negative behavioral problems because children are learning from violent actions which causes children to think that violence is okay and are not being aware of their consequences. Children who constantly view violence on video games screen become more immune and numb to actual real life violence and show more aggressive behavior (American Academy of Child and Adult Psychiatry, 2015). Children are showing physiological behaviors such as depression, withdrawal, anxiety, attention problem, and aggression. When it comes to sleep, children need 9 or more hours each night for their brains to development, but those who uses technology at night are only getting 3 to 4 hours of sleep and experience health related issues such as back pain, headaches, fatigue, and crankiness ( Rosan et al., 2014). It’s important for children to get the rest they need in order properly develop, and when not getting enough sleep can lead to other serious illness. Obesity is becoming an increasing issue among children who are using and is exposed to technologies such as TV, computers, and cell phones. The excessive amount of screen time promotes obesity through the poor choices of bad eating habits and lack of physical activities. Also, children are consuming more junk food or fatty food while being on their technology. The obesity rate in children has tripled in the past 20 years and 15 percent of children between 5-10 years old can be considered overweight (Hatch, 2011). It 's because today children are riding cars instead of walking, using elevator instead of stairs, and riding automatic scooter instead of bikes. Lacking the physical activities and healthy eating, kids are unaware of what actual fun is outside their technology and are not exposed to the varieties of healthy food choices. Another health issue children are face is having eyesight irritation because of the high brightness
