Next on my dad’s side of the family tree is my Aunt Shannon. Shannon has had heart disease since her 30s and has undergone a couple of heart surgeries to place in stints, and has high blood pressure too. She has recently lost weight by eating a more balanced diet and increasing her physical activity. This increase in physical activity and weight loss thus decreases her risk of obesity, cancer, and diabetes (NCHPAD). One way Shannon increased her amount of physical activity was by joining a club. This club focuses on the game petanque, which is a game similar to horseshoes and/or bocce ball. Although this sport/game requires only light physical activity, Shannon plays 4 to 5 times a week for about one hour each time. Therefore her health problems

Both of my mother’s siblings have active lifestyles by exercising and not having a sedentary lifestyle. Furthermore both my aunt and uncle eat a balanced and nutritious diet. They also both live in Metropolitan areas, which in turn may affect their air quality. Examining this further with the help of the American Lung Association, I compared my aunt’s city (Memphis) to my uncle’s city (Minneapolis). Just looking at the particle pollution of each city Minneapolis got the grade of a D, while Memphis got the grade of a B (ALA). Therefore, a possible concern for my uncle may be the amount of pollution in the air which could lead to respiratory
