Social Networks: A Bad Impact on People Have you ever logged onto Facebook to find a family or friend has passed away before you could get a simple phone call? Unfortunately I have and this is the means of communication through social networks in the world today. Social networks are online sites used by people all over the world that bring people together to communicate, share their ideas and interests, expanding businesses, locating old friends or making new ones. Sadly, social networks such as Facebook, MySpace, Instagram and Twitter are taking the world by storm and taking the place of traditional communication. Social networks have advantages, disadvantages, and it is felt that the negative impacts outweigh the positive on people. One …show more content…

People are becoming addicted to sites such as Facebook and feel the need to check it multiple times a day or night. It is the first thing some people look at in the mornings and the last thing they look at before turning in for the night. We are seeing more and more negativity in this world today and people seem to thrive over gossip, bad news, and love to be the first to announce a tragedy. There have been several instances where I have seen death announcements made before the family is even notified. I feel that there is a lack of consideration for the family on this type of situation. I agree it is very beneficial when trying to raise money for people such as, "Go Fund Me" accounts but of course people have taken advantage and abused this too. False accounts have been created and people are committing fraud. The scams and hoax information has gotten out of hand and rumors are being spread like wildfire regarding celebrity deaths such as suicides, grocery giveaways, fake coupons, and contest entry. All this is just luring the networks users into a trap and providing hackers with their information. Children are being bullied at school, arguments, and fights are being videoed at school and then put on these networks. To have to go to school with this abuse and then deal with it on these social networks is ridiculous. The drama on the networks are overwhelming, not just with kids but adults as well. Just recently in the media and broadcasted over Facebook, a man did a live stream video of himself talking about how he murdered his
