We are giving our children potential weapons against themselves. This is because smartphones and regular cell phones have shown un-warned detrimental effects in various studies of non-matured children’s brains. The effects of mobile phones on children come in different forms. The first being the actions of the child and the second shows itself neurologically. Being a citizen of McAllen, Texas has made me more apprehensive about this topic, it started with the issuing of the iPads and iPods to the students in the city. When this was first announced my excitement was very prevalent. I was finally going to have something more than just a texting phone. But, as time passed, I began to see how little they were being used to actually enhance our brains as opposed to the distraction they had become. This is when I began to think about the consequences these devices might have on impressionable young minds like my own.
