As children are growing up we do not necessarily think about much. We normally go to school, do our work, and have fun with friends. As we hit our adolescence part of life, we tend to be more socially active, and being more with friends rather than family. During this stage of life peer pressure can be a challenge in most individuals. Although, many think of peer pressure as a negative aspect of life, it can have many positive effects like positive peer association; as well as empathy and social initiative. There are two types of peer pressure, one being direct and the other being indirect peer association. They both play a huge part when it comes to positive peer pressure. We are so use to thinking of peer pressure as a negative thing, that we tend to out look the good in it. For example, self- esteem is a huge part of positive peer pressure. As indicated in the previous study, it showed that adolescence do not feel useless and they are satisfied with themselves. Due to positive peer pressure, and the type of individual they are with. The study indicated that 88 percent of them had high elf esteem due to positive peer pressure. As you can tell this is almost 90 percent of adolescence have a higher self-esteem. Meaning that many of them have a strong self-esteem due to their positive peer pressure they have encounter in their lives. Positive peer pressure can lead to higher self-esteem, due to the fact that someone is pressuring you to do something good. For example, someone may have pointed out that you have a terrible attitude; you as an individual may want to better yourself and, therefore increase your self-esteem. Having positive peer pressure can increase empathy in an individual. Not only does it make you a better individual, but it also shows how caring of a person you are. In other words people will not see you as a selfish individual, but an amazing one. In the same study as listed in the first paragraph; 70 percent of adolescence said that they felt awful when someone is being taken advantage or feel sad when they see someone who is struggling in life. As you can see people who have positive peer pressure are more likely to help those who are in need of help or assistance. Indicating that they are growing as responsive and caring person. They will also lend a hand when someone needs it. This is not only beneficial to them but to the one receiving the help. In conclusion, peer pressure is not necessarily a negative aspect of life, like many individuals think. In contrast positive peer pressure is an amazing think for an Individual to encounter. By having positive peer pressure an individual is more likely to be able to learn many life moral. Such as having positive indirect and direct peer association.
