An invasive species is an organism that is not native and has negative effects on an economy, environment and health of an individual. Moreover, an invasive species can be a plant, animal or other organisms that might create negative impacts to the society. Furthermore, the definition can further be enumerated as a species that is non-native to the ecosystem under consideration and whose introduction creates results that are inefficient to those surrounding it. The impacts that are often created by the presence of an invasive species are often difficult to reverse (Keller et al., 2014, 12-15). According to Finch, Pearson, Wunderle and Arendt (2009), invasions by non-indigenous species threaten nearly 50% of imperiled native species in the United States and the Nation’s second leading cause of species endangerment after habitat destructions and degradation (Finch et al., 2009, 44). It is true as research by The Nature Conservancy of United States reveals that invasive species, i.e. both plants and animal species have contributed directly to the decline of 42% of the threatened and endangered species. The annual cost to the U.S economy regarding invasive by species is estimated to be $120 billion annually with over 100 million acres suffering from the invasive plant species (Hobbs, 2000, 44-45). The insinuation by the study implies that the invasive plant species are a contributor to the United States economic decline. The rationale is based on the fact finance spend on combating the species. Economically, the United States is being affected regarding development. Thus, the presence of invasive species is a negative aspect as it lowers the economic status of a counter.
