These territories include Guam, Philippines, and Puerto Rico. Instead of arguing that these territories couldn’t be given, the U.S. graciously accepted them and ruled over them. To this day the U.S. still owns these places and has a definite presence. Before the countries were given to America, Spain had control of them, but lost them after losing the war. The Americans did receive them as war reparations, but it was still not very ethical to accept countries like money without even considering their opinions. The effects of not caring about the opinions of the people while taking over their country have had a big impact on the U.S. They have given America many labels and have caused effects that have taken lives. The label America has been given is because of our neglect for the rights of others. We go into different places and we do whatever is necessary to take over the place we want. Their philosophy is there will always be unfortunate effects, but these are necessary to getting what is wanted. The terrorist attacks have come mostly because of the U.S. presence in the Middle East. The big resource over there is the oil that so many countries want to get their hands on. This causes a lot of disputes and fighting over areas that are rich in oil. Because of the fighting that is done, people get angry when there are casualties or conflicting views causing radicalist groups like al Qaeda and ISIS. They feel that the U.S. just invited themselves to their home and have no place in being in the place they call home. This causes the justification for them to get even by carrying out acts of terror on the public and government officials. There are big events such as 9/11 that took almost 3,000 lives not including the first responders that helped save people. There are also events such as car bombings, using vehicles as weapons, suicide bombers, and mass shootings that happen almost monthly. These are people that have been in contact with these extremist groups and for some reason want to support their ideals. Even though these extremist groups dwindle, such as the down fall of al Qaeda
