For many, homework can have many cons associated with the added work in the home, for both the parent and the child. For many, home is a place of relaxation and freedom, however as seen in the name, homework is simply work that takes places at home (cite mag article). Bringing their day into the home environment and subsequently to their parents could result in negative energy in the environment. “Instead of allowing students to bring their world into school, homework requires them to bring school into their world”(cite mag article). For many families, time allotted each evening for ‘family time’ is very cursory, meaning that the addition of homework each night can affect this important time negatively. For both the parent and child, often each individual has spent much of their day working their brains and being required to be engaged for up to eight hours a day. For many children, they also participate in after school activities including daycare, clubs or sports, adding extra hours to their already busy day. As a result, adding homework to the child’s daily schedule after such a busy day can lead to a stressful event. As such, parents who have had a long day at work and are then required to participate in their child’s homework may not always react positively and may even become annoyed with such an activity. As a result, negative energy is surrounded by the event of homework, which makes it less desired for the child and eventually avoidable.
