Presently, Canada is one of the few countries that does not require GMOs to be labeled (Label GMOs). It is really challenging to label all the foods because a food like GM corn can be used as an ingredient in many other foods like cereal, yogurt, and canned soup. All of these foods would need to be labelled as having genetically modified ingredients. Instead, people should currently look for foods labeled “GMO free” until it is mandatory for companies to label them (Eat Right Ontario). By labelling if a food is GMO or not, people would be able to choose whether or not they consume the unhealthy toxins. Some groups in Canada are even petitioning for a mandatory labelling of GMOs so shoppers can be cautious of what foods they are buying.
