It all started with one message on a Friday morning, a year and a half ago. That’s how me and my boyfriends long journey started. Everything from that day on is history. I now sit here pregnant with our child at 18 years old. It was never my initial plan to get pregnant this early—although I 've always wanted kids—I would have like to waited until I graduated college, got a good job, and got married. Not all things end up as you wish they would be, but everything happens for a reason and Gods timing is perfect. I do not regret this baby and am very blessed to get to become a mother. Getting pregnant at a young age has had many different effects on me, good and bad, but it has changed me in ways I never thought possible. Before getting pregnant I was self consumed, and career driven. Now, that I have a new life to think about, my thoughts and goals are completely different. I will now do everything for the benefit of my baby to give he or she the best life possible. I will still continue to strive forward and finish school because I want to show my child that just because there is a bump in the road, and things become more challenging, that doesn’t mean you should give up. Balancing being a mom, going to school, and working will be challenging, but not impossible. I understand that some of the things that I had planned before will have to be changed, but that’s something im okay with, because no matter what my kid will always be number 1. I now understand that the age that im having a kid at is considered to be young, but the way I see it now is that I will be able to spend more years with my kids. I have a new perspective on what life means to me, and although my baby is not born yet, my baby is my whole
