Gender wage gap is a way for men and women to discriminate against other based off their gender. Gender wage gap allows men to make money than most women. For instance, if a man and a woman have the same job, it is more likely the man is making more money even though they are doing the same amount of work and have the same job title. More simply, women are not usually seen as dominant people in the work force, so they usually receive lower wages, even if they are experienced and well trained for the job. Additionally, the gender wage gap and can affect how many hours women work. For instance, if overtime was available at a company, some may ask a man before approaching a woman. More simply, most people believe women have a hard time working long hours, because of their flexibility. Some may believe women have a difficult time managing long hours if they have children they need to care for. They do not have enough time to work long hours and adequately care for their children as well. For instance, making meals, helping their children with homework, and spending time with the family. However, working less hours will impact women and their families, because they are not making enough money to support them. Women are earning lower wages than men, because of the gender wage gap. Women making low wages are not able to afford helpful resources. In addition, women are not be able to work longer hours, because they are not offered the opportunity or they have a limited availability. For instance, if a woman’s child was sick, she will most likely take off work.
