Depression is a very tough issue to overcome, or even get a hold of. Continuing actions that keep me down, even if they have immediate positive feelings, lead to a more detrimental outcome. One of my issues is the use of sweets to make myself feel better. Even as a kid I would turn to candy and desserts to make myself feel better. The older I got the more I justified this action by telling myself “chocolate is a good antidepressant” and “it’s ok as long I try to be more active.” Every time I had sweets as a kid it was related to a happier moment in my life. Also, eating sweet foods tastes good and that always made me feel better. It was something I could turn too easily and it was always there. This is driven me to eating a lot of sugary foods in my normal and it has caused me to turn to sweets whenever my depression gets to a point that I cannot function
