The warm rain still falling softly on my face. All of a sudden the clouds where right above me. It was one of the weirdest things that I have ever felt in nature. The air went from pleasantly warm to freezing cold. The cold front had hit. I knew what a cold front was but I had never felt one, until that moment. It felt like a wall of air-conditioned air moved across the mountain. I wrapped up in my blanket as the rain began to fall harder. I ran back to my warm car, but not wanting to leave the beautiful peaceful place. That night as I was standing, sopping wet at the football game embracing the cold. I knew that I would be home soon enough, dried off, snuggled up in my bed, so I decided to just try and enjoy it, while everyone around me was complaining and running to shelter. I spend a lot of time in nature, but this was definitely the most bizarre experience I have every had. This moment really opened my eyes to nature. I experienced the absolute beauty that is presented in nature. It is amazing! I have always lived close to the mountains, and I think I have taken advantage of that. I also experienced how violent nature is. I have been in storms but need actually been fearful of the weather that I was in. This experience helped me gain a a great respect for

For two weeks, I stayed in Charleston, South Carolina. I didn’t know much about the place, except that I referred to it as an army town because that’s where my sister and her husband, who was in the military, stayed. I was reluctant to go, but Charleston had a lot to offer me; a new change of pace and some new scenery was much more satisfying than spending the two weeks stuck in Iowa doing the same old routine. The weather was mystical in Charleston.…

I have been able to experience life and death in nature’s atmosphere, grow a respect and love for all that is in it, and at the same time realize the important factors that everything plays to each stage of life. I have been able to experience freedom of mind through learning to be accountable for my actions at an early age and if I made a bad choice, it could lead to deadly consequences, and good choices led me to amazing experiences. I learned a freedom of education that most don’t get to experience through living life in nature and its habitat. I learned how to survive and how to stay safe in an environment that most would die in, because they don’t know what’s in the desert or how to find what’s needed to survive. I learned a freedom of self-reliance; I know in my life I have to work for what I want.…

Excitement built up inside of me. We were about an hour away from my aunt’s house; I loved the thought of being with my family, but I also loved the daring and silly activities that we did when we got there. That summer, we had gone to a strawberry farm. I thought that it was going to be incredibly monotonous and absurd; but I was wrong. It was torrid and unbearable in the summer heat, and when we arrived there, I sat back and dreaded the walk, but the summer brought great things to that…
