With today’s economical decline and the limited resource available for those families that were already socioeconomically limited due to lack of education and/or the possession of the proper skill set to obtain a decent job to support for the familial obligations they have. This is put a strain on the resources provided by the local, state and national organizations that are charged to provide oversight in ensuring that the basic needs of our population are met, more importantly our children. Nationally, the rate of homeless children has skyrocketed over the last seven years jumping from 1.5 million in 2006 to 2.5 million in 2013 according to The National Center on Family Homelessness this is an 8% increase which is had a devastating effect on our children ability to be successful long-term not to mention the impact it has on the already limited resources available within the community as local municipalities jockey to appropriately allocate limited funding and all too often the nurturing of our …show more content…
Not take away from the foster homes ability to care for, nurtured and provide an overall adequate domain in which children can survive as often many of these foster homes are actually stood up by relatives who know the family members going through something and he or she may not be able to properly care for their offspring. So in an effort to keep the child close to the family these type foster homes set up by relatives account for 28% of the foster homes nationwide while 9% get institutionalized, 6% are sent to group homes, another 6% are supervised by the state in various homes for designated periods of time until released (Child Welfare Information Gateway,
