NEED FOR CORRELATION OF THEORY INTO PRACTICE This concept was taken from module 6 “clincial component of nursing education”, sub-topic 1 “correlation of theory into practice” Theory can be defined in this context as all what is taught in the classroom. This lectures taught in the classroom are what prepares student nurses towards what they expect to see in the clinical settings. Without proper teaching in theory, nurses will not have a scientific ratonale about procedures carried out and they will not be able to defend the nursing profession. Practice on the other hand can be defined as the process of carrying out an action. In this case it have to do with putting into action all the theory taught in the classroom. It should be noted that classroom environment is not the real situation, hence students need to be exposed to the real situation i.e in the clinical settings.
2. A topic can be taught in class and everyone might understand it but it doesn’t mean that they can carryout the practicals when they are confronted with it. Hence, the need for correlation of practice into theory.so that students will be able to apply those things taught in the class whenever they are confronted with it.
3. Whatever we practice stays better and understanding is better when you see and practice such a thing. We can be taught some topics in the classroom but if we are taken to the clinical settings and see patients with such cases and carryout practice based on that very topic, we will understand it better and will not forget easily.
4. Correlation of theory into practice is necessary for globalization of nursing care. Nurses needs to be conversant with both theory as well as practical so that they can fit in anywhere they find themselves and render effective care to their patients.

9.5 SIGNIFICANCE TO NURSING PROFESSION This is important to the nursing profession so as to make student nurses competent in administering proper nursing care to their patients.

It helps to make the world a better place as people will be competent in whatever they are doing.

9.7 RECENT RESEARCH A research work was carried out in June 2010 on the issues in the relationship between theory and practice in managment accounting. What prompted this researcher is the discovery that the interest in the practical aspects of management accounting is fading. He noticed that due to the introduction of management accounting as a social science, students were doing well and their performances increased. This led to most teachers forgetting about the technical aspect of management accounting and this made student lack the necessary skill needed in management accounting.
