The August prior to my freshman year, I tried out for Saint Hubert’s soccer team. I had trained all summer in hope of making the team. The tryouts were interminable and grueling, but my hard work had all paid off when I made the team. However, I had never thought playing high school soccer and keeping my grades up would be too much to handle. My grades in the first quarter clearly showed that I was having trouble balancing soccer with academics. These events that Saint Hubert had to offer made my school year more appealing. Some of these events included Susie Hubert Day, the Freshman Dance, the Father Daughter Dance, Winter Formal, and sports games. These activities and events allowed me to make new friends and bond with my fellow classmates. Although freshman year was a time of major confusion and huge adjustments, I have learned from my experiences and hope to use them for my benefit. My freshman year has allowed me to learn how to balance sports and academics. I am now familiar of where all of the classrooms are located and will no longer get lost. I hope to participate in all of the fun activities that take place in my upcoming years. Since I now have a better understanding of what high school is really about, I am prepared to take on my next three years at Saint
