Neal Moody Case Study

I am addressing the court on behalf of my child, Neal Moody. First I would like to begin by saying Neal and his brother lived in a single parent home, which they witnessed physical assault and mental abuse by their father. Neal’s father would kick, and bruise my eyes. When I would ask for assistance with the boys, Neal’s father refrains from help. He would refuse to punish either of the boys when misbehaving or not performing household chores. Other obstacle towards Neal were the mentally abuse from me because I was so overwhelmed. Neal and his brother were left alone while I worked a full-time job at the Department of the Air Force, and a part-time at Macy’s Department Store as result of my mother who passed. Neal has been affected

In my role as a Guardian ad litem I acted as a liaison between children, families and the court. In order to, protect the interests of minor children in the Department of Social Services (DSS) custody. This, was not an easy task because this required the removal of children (ages 0-17) from the home who have been abused or neglected. This, sometimes meant a child would be separated from his or her siblings and placed into foster care until a permanent placement was obtained rather it be a parent completing a case plan or a child gaining out of the system. As a Guardian ad litem I was required to treat everyone with dignity and respect and to established a positive rapport, between clients, family members and the community.…

Plaintiff’s attorneys initially rejected our suggestion of having Case Ellis serve as a mediator because they were not familiar with him. As an alternative, they suggested Fred Lane and Tim Slavins. Although I respect Mr. Lane (I do not know Judge Slavin), I urged them to research Mr. Ellis and reconsider their rejection. I am happy to report that they have agreed to retain Mr. Ellis as the mediator in this matter. I know that we discussed this previously, but schedules have a tendency to change.…

There are four key steps to follow to help you to identify and respond appropriately to possible abuse and/or neglect. It may not always be appropriate to go through all four stages sequentially. If a child is in immediate danger or is at risk of harm, you should refer to children’s social care and/or the police. Before doing so, you should try to establish the basic facts. However, it will be the role of social workers and the police to investigate cases and make a judgement on whether there should be a statutory intervention and/or a criminal investigation.…

This memorandum is a recommendation for mediation as opposed to due process in our IEP impasse of sixth grade student GT. Being our next step should be mediation, I feel it is in the best interest and most appropriate for all parties involved — the student, the parents, and the district. Although this does not negate a request from the parents for due process, it gives us the opportunity to resolve our indifferences. Under mediation, we can prevent having to exhaust a substantial amount of resources, as we would in due process. First, we would have to positively encourage the parents to agree to mediation.…

While in the court house I demonstrated professional demeanor in behavior and appearance. As the attorney made the announcement on behalf of the parents I was very aware of my body language and did not allow my thoughts of disbelieve to be shown through facial expression or body language. Although I was not directly involved in the hearing I feel that by attending court hearing I was engaging in practices that advanced social justice for the children that were involved in the court hearing and for future children that are involved in court hearings. Again I was not directly involved with the clients yet I was able to apply the knowledge of person-in-environment to understand why the parents had made the final choice after previously begging for another chance. The mother changed as her views as the environment…
