Most kids want to grow up and be in the NBA/WNBA, but they can’t be those things if they aren’t taught the fundamental basics of the game. First, they must learn what all the positions are and what their roles. The point guard is the man/women bringing the ball and down the court, their main job is to set up plays and get the other players involved. The shooting guard is typically the best shooter on the team, the shooting guard stays on the outside for open shots, but can also be the first option for the point guard to pass to if he/she needs help. The small forward is smaller than a power forward, more agile and has a better jump shot. A power forward is a large forward that plays well in the post with good rebounding skills. The center is the tallest and biggest on the team with the same moves as a power forward if not better. …show more content…
Out of bounds which are also called boundary lines are the big rectangle surrounding the court. Going out of bounds will be a turnover which means the other team gets the ball. There is the paint where the power forward and center are positioned. The free throw line is inside the three-point line and is only used when fouled, and the only basket worth one point each. The three-point line is the semi-circle surrounding the basket and if shot behind this line is worth three points, also that is where the point guard, shooting guard, and small forward usually play. There is also a half court line, when you past that you can’t go back over it unless the other team hits back over

The article "The Danger of Telling Poor Kids that College Is the Key to Social Mobility" by Andrew Simmons brings up a great idea of what the teachers and counselors are telling the underprivileged students the wrong thing. As Simmons brings up students should not be told that college is the only way to reduce economic hardship and that’s the only point to try attend college. He expresses that students should see a college education as a stepping stone to a great career and be able to give back to the community or be able to create their own company. He also expresses that students are taught differently as those “from wealthier backgrounds to be innovators and creators while the poor kids who do very well in school are taught to be educated, capable employees.” I personally agree with the points Simmons brings up about how students should not be “taught to be educated, capable employees” but rather “to be innovators and creators.”…

Did I Miss Anything? is written in an alternating two voice form to contrast the perspectives of a teacher and a student while Ex-Basketball Player chronicles the life of a former basketball player. Both poems are composed in a stanza format in which lines are arranged into a unit. However, the two poems are constructed in very different ways to effectively convey their message. In Did I Miss Anything?, the poet conveys the message that students need to take their responsibility to learn by presenting the two different perspectives of the lazy students and the passionate teachers. Throughout the poem, each stanza begins with “Nothing” and “Everything” and the repetition of these opposite answers to the question emphasizes two opposing perspectives…

Furthermore, Simmons also discusses whether or not it is correct to “sale” College as a path to economic stability versus a path of intellectual awakening. In doing this Simmons distinguishes between lower income students and privileged students. The first point that Simmons makes is that, “….teachers repeat again and again that a college degree will alleviate economic hardship.…

A small white ring is placed at the feet of your virtual pro. This ring lets you know where you should be positioned on the court relative to the ball. For example, when playing as a defender, the ring will guide you to a position that is aligned with the defenders beside you.
