Seeing your favorite NBA player dunking is so exciting and you wish you can be him through a game! Basketball video games have always been around since 1973. The first video basketball game was “Basketball !”, it was mainly just shooting and not a lot of dribbling or passing, it was nothing like it was on television. The video game only had two players going against each other there weren’t any teams. There was another basketball game in 1978 with passing and dribbling named “Basketball”, but it still wasn’t nothing like what was shown on television. The NBA finally had its first own game with their logo named “NBA Basketball” in 1980. This game didn’t have all of the teams nor stars in the game, but it was the first official NBA video game. There were many NBA video games after that like “One-on-One with Larry bird and Magic Johnson”. Those games finally had the NBA superstars, but it still wasn’t like the real basketball game of the NBA. Many of those one on one video games only had two players to choose from to play with, it wasn’t any teams. Allen Iverson was the cover for the first three 2K NBA video games; NBA 2K, NBA 2K2, and NBA2K3. Allen Iverson was the a big NBA basketball star. The NBA fans love Allen Iverson and with him on the cover promoted sells. For years and years NBA 2K put big basketball stars on the cover on the NBA 2K video games. All types of basketball stars were on the cover of NBA 2K like Lebron James, Stephen Curry, Michael Jordan, and many more! NBA 2K17; the latest NBA 2K video game has Paul George, who is a huge NBA player right now. Allen Iverson was the only basketball player on the cover of the game 3 years in a row. As time goes on NBA players get better with their skills and the NBA 2K players in the video game gets better
